Grade – 4.1 stars out of 5

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Overview

The Roaders Plus Hotel Taipei is a 4-star offering, that is conveniently located right next to Taipei main station. The hotel is newly opened and you can really see that once you walk into the reception area. Everything is pretty much brand new and it almost feels like you are the first guests staying there. We stayed in the Roaders Plus in Taipei in January of 2023 and our review is based on our experiences.

Top Tips

  • When you arrive initially make sure you look for the yellow Roaders Plus sign which is on the third or fourth floor of the building. The reception area of the hotel is on the 4th floor. So, when you initially walk into the building make sure you head through to the elevators and up to the reception.
  • Although breakfast is not included in any of the room rates, there is a breakfast service on the 4th floor. You can get filled croissants, burgers, and hotdogs. All for a reasonable price.
  • You may see two hotel listings for the Roaders Plus when you are looking to book. There is the “Roaders Plus Hotel Taipei Station” and the “Roaders Plus Hotel Theme”. These are effectively the same hotel, they are just located on different floors. The check-in area for both parts of the hotel is in the same location. The 4th floor.
  • If you are looking to book into the Roaders Plus, be sure to book directly via their website where they have the lowest rates on offer.

Character and Aesthetic

The Roaders Plus hotel has a really great aesthetic to it. The rooms are tastefully decorated and there is a premium feel to them. The 4th floor, which is the main reception and socializing area has a fun carnival-style aesthetic to it. It’s a fun spot and is finished to a really high standard.

There is a great seating area with a drinks fridge where beers can be purchased. It’s a perfect spot to kick off your night if you’re off out on the town.

Check-In

The check-in process was very smooth. From arrival at the hotel to being in our room it only took around 5 minutes. The staff is really efficient and there was always someone free, so no matter what time of the day you went to the check-in desk. There was someone there to help you out.

Location

You cant get a much better location in Taipei than that of the Roaders Plus hotel. Located right next to Taipei’s main station. This spot is super convenient for making the most of your trip to Taipei.

If you coming in from Taoyuan international airport. The express train drops you at Taipei main station, which is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

The surrounding area around the hotel is bustling and there is an endless choice of great restaurants and bars.

The hotel itself takes up a number of floors within a larger building and the main reception is located on floor 4. We were staying on one of the higher (floor 27) and had some stunning views of the Taipei skyline and the 101 building.

Amenities

The amenities on offer are good. The hotel has a unique aesthetic to it. It very much plays up to a carnival-style aesthetic in the main lobby area. There is a large projector screen with loads of seats and just a generally nice atmosphere. There is a beer fridge where you can purchases drinks for a reasonable price and kick back in the seating area.

There is also a complimentary tea station just to the right of reception which was a nice touch. As well as bottled water for free.

Kids Play Areas

The Roaders Plus has some great areas for kids to play. The main playroom area is nicely kitted out with climbing frames and slides. All in a padded area. Kids under 8 will love this spot. There is also a ball pit room which is fun for the adults too.

Laundry Facilites

They have a great laundry room, which seems to be pretty prevalent in Taiwanese hotels. This was super convenient as we were traveling for a few weeks, so it was great to have the facilities to wash and dry our clothes. The machine is coin-operated and cost $50 TWD per cycle for both the washer and dryer. The receptionist can provide you with change too if you need to break some notes.

The only thing this the Roaders Plus was missing was a gym. Given its 4-star rating its one amenities we would have expected to see, but given the amount of walking you will probably be doing when visiting Taipei

The Service

Everyone that we dealt with was super helpful and there seemed to be a decent ratio of staff to guests in the check-in area.

One of the elements we would have liked to have seen was room cleanings each day. Cleaners aren’t offered at Roaders Plus. You can get fresh towels from reception each day.

The average price of a mid-range room at the Roaders Plus is around $100 USD a night, which compared to a lot of other 4-star offerings in the area is very good. The food options are a little limited at the hotel itself. There is no main restaurant, but there is a food truck-style offering in the main reception area. Here you can get breakfast each day. At a very reasonable cost.

Give the hotel’s location, there is so much choice of restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So, we liked getting out there and exploring the food culture. Some of our top picks of restaurants within are short distance were the below.

Location – No. 2-1, Section 1, Jinan Rd, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan 100

This Shanghainese restaurant serves up some serious eats at a decent price. They have English menus too to make the experience a little bit smoother. Our top recommendation is the Dongpo pork. It was literally cooked to perfection.

Din Tai Fung Mitsukoshi Nanxi Restaurant 鼎泰豐 南西店 (19-minute walk from the Roaders)

Location – 104, Taiwan, Taipei City, Zhongshan District, Nanjing W Rd, 12號B2
